Merry Hill Barn

Self Catering Accommodation of the Year

Merry Hill Barn is set off a quiet lane surrounded by farmland, close to the coast path and a footpath which leads across fields to a village with a pub, farm shop and cafe. It was featured as Bathsheba’s house in the 2015 movie Far From The Madding Crowd with Carey Mulligan. Finished in March 2018, it is furnished to a very high standard, combining comfort, traditional features and modern style with cosy underfloor heating throughout.

The large, open light filled hallway opens onto the garden on one side and parking area on the other. A beautiful oak staircase leads to the upstairs galleried living/kitchen area. The upper floor has a beautiful wood effect floor, exposed stone walls and original beams. The living area features a large corner sofa with chaise and an extra large armchair next to a living flame wall-hung fire. There is a 65” flat screen TV with FreeSat, sound bar and DVD player and the large window looks out over rolling countryside towards the coast. The fully equipped modern kitchen has sleek units with Minerva work tops, Bosch appliances and an American fridge/freezer. There is seating for 6 people at the stylish dining table plus 3 bar stools for relaxed seating at the kitchen island. Downstairs there are three ensuite bedrooms, all dressed in high thread count cotton linen and goose feather and down duvets and pillows for ultimate comfort. The master bedroom features a king sized bed and the bathroom has a bath and walk in shower. There is also a bedroom with double bed and one with white wooden bunk beds, with full sized (3 foot) mattresses, both have ensuite showers and wc . All the bathrooms are fully tiled with sensor lighting and fluffy Egyptian cotton bath sheets are provided for our guests. The lawned garden is fully enclosed with a stone wall and 5 bar gate. There is outdoor seating for six and we welcome one dog by prior arrangement (charges apply).
