Melbury Osmond is a beautiful Dorset village where Thomas Hardy’s mother lived as a child. The village appears in his novel, “The Woodlanders” as “Little Hintock”. The village has a recreation ground with a play park and playing field. Guests are welcome to use the smart village tennis court, please bring your own racquets and balls. A walk through the nearby deer park to the historic village of Evershot with its pub, The Acorn Inn, serving delicious food and regional ales is a must.
